An Intimate Evening with Amy McCarley

August 11, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm CDT

Tickets: $20 (Call  251-367-4599 to reserve)

Rising roots star Amy McCarley is not exactly — and yet, every last thing — you might expect of a talented singer songwriter. No Depression called her voice “a nuanced instrument best paired with a strong lyrical hook.”

And boy, can she write one. Take “Fools Lament,” for example, with verses that wind their way expertly toward a simple, brilliant chorus, “There ain’t no way to change fake to real.” There is nothing fake about McCarley, whose eponymous debut led her home state of Alabama to name her an Artist to Watch in 2011.

The anticipated follow-up, Jet Engines (2014) —co-produced by George Bradfute (Webb Wilder, Planet Rockers, et al) & Grammy-winning guitarist Kenny Vaughan (Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives, The Pretenders, Lana Del Rey, et al)— was recorded in Nashville’s Tone Chaparral Studios and captured intensely personal mostly autobiographical material, perhaps foreshadowing Amy’s transition from full time employment as a NASA contractor to a keener focus on pursuing a musical path.
In support of Jet Engines, Amy played over 200 shows —sharing stages with world class acts across the country. LoneStar Music Magazine included the project among its Top Americana Albums.
Bill Bowker/KRSH added it to his Top 10 Albums of 2014. McCarley’s song, “Everybody Wants To,” received honorable mention in American Songwriter Magazine’s Lyric-Only Contest (Nov. 2014) and the album spent months on the Americana Music Association Radio Chart.

After collaborating with Bluebird Cafe round mate and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Famer, Pat Alger, Amy is once again back in the studio w/ esteemed colleagues, co-producers Kenny Vaughan & George Bradfute.

With a whole new chapter of life to explore —and joined also on the project by a stellar assembled cast including Chris Scruggs, guests Pat Alger, Marty Stuart, Kenny Lovelace & Harry Stinson— the future is bright for fans of Amy McCarley music. Stay tuned for a release date announcement, with promotional tour & radio campaign to follow in 2018.
